An Orange Daddy and Bowl of Oatmeal

I remember Greg when he was a small boy, a real character! He and Sylvia had been looking at an encyclopedia (I think it was) with pictures of the human body with all of its arteries, veins, etc., and they called it "the Orange Daddy." They were sitting next to each other on a big couch and began to rhythmically move backward and forward, bouncing on the cushions behind them chanting: "I want a new daddy, I want an Orange Daddy," several times. They were full of delight at having made up their own song and kept up the rhythm for a while as we enjoyed it with them. I also remember staying overnight at the Willits's home, possibly at the Gumm Ranch near Nathrop, Colo. Greg was 2 years old I think. He was in a high chair with a bowl of oatmeal in front of him on the tray. I think we were looking at him and saying how cute he was, or some silly thing that we adults do, and he picked up the small bowl and turned it upside down over his head--clowning for his audience! My son, Jonathan Beatty, who died in April of 2008, was a good buddy of Greg's when they were young and had lots of fun exploring the Boise, Idaho, area with him during a visit when they were teenagers.
